Reading: THIS MONTH WE ARE FOCUSING ON STORY STRUCTURE, ESPECIALLY SETTING, CHARACTERS AND BEGINNING, MIDDLE AND END OF STORIES. WE HAVE ALSO SPENT TIME FIGURING OUT THE THEME OR MESSAGE THAT THE AUTHOR IS TRYING TO CONVEY. iN GRAMMAR, WE ARE WORKING ON NOUNS- PROPER AND COMMON, SINGULAR AND PLURAL. sTUDENTS SHOULD CONTINUE TO READ NIGHTLY FOR 20 MINUTES TO REACH THEIR ar GOAL OF PASSING ONE TEST EACH WEEK. wE HAVE ALSO BEGAN PASSING CHARMS FOR EVERY 5 ar POINTS EARNED AND STUDENTS SEEM EXCITED ABOUT ADDING TO THEIR CHAIN!
Math: since the beginning of school, our understanding of place value has helped us to read, write, order, and compare numbers. we have learned that rounding is a way to tell about how much a number is worth and to help us to make better estimates. we continue to use place value skills to help us identify patterns with numbers, as well as to increase our ability to complete addition problems accurately and efficiently.
Science: wE HAVE BEEN "ROCK HOUNDS" COLLECTING, INVESTIGATING AND DISCUSSING ROCKS AND MINERALS. sTUDENTS ARE LEARNING THAT ROCKS HAVE SPECIFIC PROPERTIES SUCH AS COLOR, TEXTURE, LUSTER AND HARDNESS.
social studies: such excellent map readers we are becoming! students have been very busy learning about our earth. through many kinds of maps, we have explored its hemispheres, as well as the continents and oceans that make it. we know that our community is a part of a state, in our country, that is within one of the continents.
